Fan War Ignites As Laapataa Ladies Beats Animal In Viewership, Here's How Vanga's Fans Are Defending

The tiff between Kiran Rao and Sandeep Reddy Vanga might have ended, but the fans are in no mood to let it go unnoticed. The former's film?Laapataa Ladies has reportedly beaten Animal in terms of viewership, and now fans are saying, "Kiran Rao has last laugh over Sandeep Reddy Vanga".

According to a report by Binged, Laapataa Ladies has surpassed Animal on Netflix with 13.8 million views, making it 2024's breakout hit. However, it hasn't exceeded the viewership of Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter, which has 14 million views. Animal premiered on OTT in January this year, Fighter in March, and Laapataa Ladies debuted on Netflix in April.

But Animal performed better in theatres, didn't it??

While some of the fans of the film starring Pratibha Ranta are happy that finally "a movie that isn't garbage and misogynist getting attention," fans of Animal are arguing that the Ranbir Kapoor starrer did a great business in theatres instead.?

"People forget that Animal being an all time blockbuster still got so many viewership on OTT whereas most people decided to wait for OTT release of LL instead of visiting the theatres," one of the fans wrote. "A record high number of people already watched Animal in theaters. Majority of them probably don’t wanna rewatch it so soon on Netflix.?And vice versa for LL," said another one.

Animal's worldwide collection stands at Rs?917.82 crore. On the other hand, Laapataa?Ladies' collection stands at Rs 23.29 crores reportedly. While the film starring Triptii Dimri was made on a budget of Rs 100 crores, the Aamir Khan productions movie was made on a budget of Rs 4-5 crores.??

The tiff between Kiran Rao and Sandeep Reddy Vanga

It all began after Rao?slammed Sandeep Reddy Vanga for normalising stalking and misogyny in his films, after the release of Animal. Vanga hit back at her by reminding her of Aamir Khan's movies and songs. He said,?"Today morning, my AD showed me an article. It is of the second ex-wife of a superstar. She is saying that films like Bahubaali 2 and Kabir Singh promote misogyny and stalking. I think she does not know the difference between stalking and approaching. When people read these things out of context, they tend to agree. This is entirely wrong."
