Some artists have managed to make their mark despite facing several challenges over the years. One such actor is Sharib Hashmi. A talented and dedicated artist who began his acting career in his early 30s and overcame many obstacles to make a name for himself in the business.
Beginning with the most recent development, we questioned Sharib on how he feels about the recent social media posts from viewers expressing their disappointment that they didn't see him in Asur 2 because his character Lolark Dubey was killed off in the first season.
The actor said, ¡°Pata nahi maine aisa kya kiya tha but it was a well written character. In fact, it took me 2-3 days to say yes to the role because I was shooting for Family Man. When the producer offered me this, I felt they are both cop roles but my instinct said Asur is different. People told me I would get typecast in cop roles but I gave it a shot.¡±
He also talked about how much fun the filming was and how great the director, Oni Sen, was throughout. Oni extracted everything from him to get the best for the role. He also called himself an admirer of Arshad Warsi. Sharib said he is amazed how people are telling him that they miss Lolark in season 2.
Revealing if the show changed his life, he said, ¡°Absolutely, 100 percent. Things changed for me like anything after Family Man. When it came, I had high hopes plus I did not have work at that point. Before it, the last?three years I went through a low phase in my career.¡±
He added how some things he shot for did not release and others got shelved. So it started playing on his mind. He thought he had arrived after Filmistaan but life had other plans. Some independent films like Vodka Diaries, also came but no one got to know about their release. They were released with zero promotions and no awareness either in the audience or media.?
¡°I won¡¯t say that I am always happy but I felt that probably it is just a phase and I had faith in myself. I was waiting for that one project. I felt ¡°jab vo ayega na, log mujhse vapas pyaar karenge.¡± I used to tell myself that ¡°tera time ayega¡±
¡°It probably is different for a director but for us as actors it's pretty much the same because for me personally I just need to put my best foot forward. ¡°
He added, ¡°But what OTT series gives is more time on screen to the talent. It's like a mushaira. The way every person gets a chance to show their talent one by one, the same thing a series does since we have 7-6 hours on screen.¡±
¡°Love for acting kept me going. I love what I do. I left my well-paying job just to get into acting. I started it when I was 33, an age where people already have reached a point but I did it anyway.¡±
He struggled to find roles for several years and eventually ran out of money. So one day, he went to his wife and admitted that his passion had caused problems for everyone in the family. He also expressed doubt about whether going into acting was the right decision. His wife encouraged him and persuaded him to stop thinking in this way and pursue acting, which is what he loves.
Sharib mentioned that his wife constantly provides him with remarks and is quite critical of his work. Additionally, he stated that he really enjoys it when she takes pride in his work because it makes him feel like he has completed half of his work.
¡°It isn't difficult because it is based on true events. But because the story has different dynamics and the execution is different too. ¡°
When talking about people being critical about remakes, he said, ¡°It's an individual¡¯s decision. And I do not mind it even as an audience. Pata nahi logo ne ise itna hauua kyun bana diya hai ab. In fact, when Martin Scorsese got his Oscar it was for ¡®The Departed¡¯ which was adapted from a Chinese film, then no one said anything, Also there was a film ¡®Living¡¯ which was adapted from Akira Kurosawa¡¯s ¡®Ikiru¡¯ and was nominated in so many categories in Oscars. So if your intentions are good then why not? Like a famous filmmaker once said, ¡°it's not about where you take it from it is about where you take it to.¡±?
