After taking a brief hiatus following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the original series of The Crown has begun filming for its fifth season.
The actors and crew of the well-known show "The Crown" are reportedly feeling some nervousness as the producers get ready to shoot the scenes that will depict Princess Diana's passing. The Crown will depict the events preceding and following the crash, but not the actual collision itself.
Diana will be portrayed by Elizabeth Debicki in the scenes, which will be filmed over the next two weeks. According to a source, the production team is really motivated "to get it right and handle it sensitively."
The British royal, called "the People's Princess" by former Prime Minister Tony Blair, continues to occupy a special place in people's hearts some 25 years after she died in a car tragedy in Paris at the age of 36. Princes William and Harry continue to sorrow for their mother's passing.
When the couple's chauffeur drove into a Parisian tunnel and crashed into a pillar in the Pont de l'Alma underpass on August 31, 1997, they were being pursued by paparazzi. Diana was with her boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed, the son of Egyptian millionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed. The sole survivor was Diana's bodyguard.
The scenes leading up to the disaster and its aftermath will be depicted in "The Crown," despite the fact that it is known the production team won't show the actual collision itself.
In a crimson dress that closely resembled the one the late royal wore in real life, Elizabeth Debicki, who has taken over Emma Corrin's role as Princess Diana for the upcoming season, channelled Diana.
The period drama's makers had earlier said that the fifth season would be the final one, but they have subsequently changed their minds and declared that season 6 will be the final one. Additionally, they had stated that the show will not be following the British royal family in the present era.?
And now, if the sources are to be believed the fifth season will show the beginnings of a romance between Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, who is portrayed by Meg Bellamy.
The Crown, a Netflix original series that follows the life and reign of the late Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, will premiere its fifth season on November 9.
