Rekhachithram OTT Release Update: Asif Ali recently starred in a mystery-crime saga that has won the hearts of many. Released on 9th January this year, the thriller grossed a total of Rs 55.17 crore during its 35 days and emerged as one of the most successful Malayalam films of 2025. Now, the film is getting ready for its OTT debut. As per reports, Rekhachithram will be streaming on Sony LIV by the end of February or in the first week of March. Here are five things to know about it:-
In Malakkappara, Vivek reclaims his position as SHO and takes over the suicide case of Rajendran, who confessed to a crime he committed years earlier. The investigation uncovers the disappearance of a young girl from the set of director Bharathan's 1985 film Kathodu Kathoram. What happens next is a puzzling tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Rekhachithram?is directed by Jofin T. Chacko in a script by John Manthrikal based on a story by Ramu Sunil. Rekhachithram is produced by Venu Kunnappilly under the banner of Kavya Film Company and Ann Mega Media. The soundtrack and score were composed by Mujeeb Majeed. Shameer Muhammed worked as the editor with Appu Prabhakar taking charge as DOP.
The Times of India rated the film 3.5 out of 5 and a part of their review read, ¡°Rekhachithram is a subtle and remarkably interlinked film that has been made with considerable research. The lack of face-off dialogue between the protagonist and the antagonist makes it way better, especially because their silent face-offs have a much better impact and make them somewhat real.¡±
Rekhachithram isn't based on a true story, but it draws inspiration from the moral dilemmas and scandals that have shaken Kerala, such as the infamous Sister Abhaya case. This real-life tragedy initially thought to be a suicide, was later uncovered as a murder involving cover-ups and conspiracy. The film's portrayal of a determined police officer searching for the truth and a suffering nun echoes the struggles of women caught between faith and survival in a society full of secrets.
Other than Asif,?Rekhachithram?also stars Anaswara Rajan, Mammootty, Manoj K. Jayan, Unni Lalu, Siddique, Jagadish (extended cameo), Saikumar, Shajeer P. Basheer, Harisree Ashokan, Indrans, Saleema, Nishanth Sagar, Bhama Arun, Megha Thomas, Srikant Murali, T. G. Ravi, Priyanka Nair, Nandu, Sudhi Koppa, Shaju Sreedhar and Vijay Menon among others.
