After a smashing response of Eiichiro Oda¡¯s One Piece, it looks like another beloved Japanese manga series is all set to shatter records with its live-action version.?Amid Netflix¡¯s Geeked Week 2023, trailer of Yu Yu Hakusho was released which has heightened the anticipation for it ten-fold.??
It has sparked a bevy of discussions online as fans can¡¯t help but praise the trailer. Only die-hard anime fans can tell you about the level of excitement that Yu Yu Hakusho trailer has brought. This series has been a fan-favorite for two decades now and to be able to witness a live-action adaptation on the manga series is almost like a dream come true for hardcore anime fans.?
Illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi, Yu Yu Hakusho is a series that tells the story of a teenage delinquent who is struck and killed by a car while attempting to save a child's life. After a number of tests presented to him by Koenma, the son of the ruler of the afterlife Underworld, Yusuke is revived and appointed the title of Underworld Detective. With this title he must investigate various cases involving demons and apparitions in the Human World, with the manga gradually becoming more focused on martial arts battles and tournaments as it progresses. Togashi began creating Yu Yu Hakusho around November 1990, basing the series on his interests in the occult and horror films and an influence of Buddhist mythology.
Directed by Sho Tsukikawa and produced by Kazutaka Sakamoto and Teru Morii, the core cast boasts of stellar names. Takumi Kitamura takes on the role of the protagonist, Yusuke Urameshi, while Shuhei Uesuhi steps into the shoes of Kazama Kuwabara. Jun Shison and Kanata Hongo bring Kurama and Hiei to life, respectively.
It is set to release on Dec 14.
It will premiere on Netflix.
