As soon as the news of Akshay Kumar playing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was out, several netizens were turned off. For a Maratha King like him, the fans were vocal about their choice of actors and it wasn¡¯t Akshay for miles. Now, the actor¡¯s first look from the film is out and people wonder that any Tom Dick and Harry would have done it better than Khiladi Kumar.
He shared a picture of himself standing with joined hands in front of Shivaji Maharaj¡¯s photo frame and wrote in caption, ¡°?? ????? ?????? ¡®????? ????? ??? ?????? ???¡¯ ?? ?????? ???? ?? ??? ??? ?????? ??????? ?????? ?????? ?? ?? ?????? ?? ???? ???? ???? ??????? ?????? ???? ???? ?? ??????? ???? ?? ??? ????? ?? ???????? ?? ???? ???? ?????? ??????! ???????? ???? ??????? ?¡±
{Loosely translated: Starting the shoot of the Marathi film 'Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat' today, in which I am fortunate to play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Ji. I will try my best to take inspiration from his life and with the blessings of Maa Jijau! Keep blessing.}
Titled Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat, this is Akshay's debut in Marathi films, and third historical film after Kesari (2019) and Samrat Prithviraj (2022). Akshay was also criticised for his looks in both of his earlier historical stints. The flak around Samrat Prithviraj made the film a box-office disaster in addition to negative reviews.
Back in November, Team Veer Daudale Saath unveiled Akshay Kumar's look at an event on Wednesday. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray, and Salman Khan graced the event. Then also assuming a criticism of his look Kumar clarified that his first look was not a final look, and he has to work more to get it perfect: "Maharaj had a sharp nose, and this is just a first look, I have to work more on it."?
Well now we have the final one and netizens have given it a thumbs down. The film's trailer may change people¡¯s perception. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and produced by Vaseem Qureshi, Vedat Marathe Veer Daudale Saat is a Qureshi Production presentation and is all set to release on Diwali 2023 in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
