The makers of Akshay Kumar¡¯s upcoming OMG 2 released the film¡¯s much-awaited teaser earlier today. As soon as it arrived, the internet has been flooded with appreciation for Akshay¡¯s look as Lord Shiva. Directed by Umesh Shukla, OMG 2 also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam and Arun Govil in pivotal roles.
It was during the promotions of Sooryavanshi that Akshay told PTI in 2020, ¡°I don¡¯t believe in any religion. I only believe in being Indian and that is what the film also shows. The idea of being an Indian and not about being a Parsi or a Hindu or a Muslim, we haven¡¯t looked at it on the basis of the religion.¡±
The film was released around the time when India was going through communal arrest. When asked about the same, Akshay said, ¡°It is a coincidence, we haven¡¯t made it deliberately (now). But, yes, it is very much a relevant film today. We make films which have negative and positive roles, I am just playing a character.¡±
¡°In every film, there will be both good and bad characters, the audience is smart enough to understand what to take back from the film - the good or the bad.¡±
Kumar told BollySpice in 2012, ¡°To be honest I would never dream of portraying a ¡®God¡¯ of any kind, anyone that knows me understands my humble shyness to play such an almighty character or in this case, India¡¯s almighty Lord Krishna. But when you have a vision (and a good shove from Pareshji himself) you just can¡¯t turn your back on such an opportunity out of fear of being judged by ¡®some¡¯ negative parties in this world.¡±
¡°This film has opened my eyes and my heart more than I thought possible, as an actor and as a devotee to God¡¡±
OMG starred Akshay as Lord Krishna under the direction of Umesh Shukla. The 2012 film also starred Paresh Rawal, Mithun Chakraborty, Mahesh Manjrekar, Om Puri, Murli Sharma, and Govind Namdeo. The film was commercially successful and was remade in Telugu as Gopala Gopala and in Kannada as Mukunda Murari.
