Azaad, starring Ajay Devgn and his nephew Aaman, is off to an unimpressive start at the box office. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, the film earned Rs 1.5 crore (nett) on the first day. The figure is way below expectations as its tickets were priced at just Rs 99 crore on the occasion of Cinema Lovers Day.?

Azaad faced competition from Emergency, which fared relatively better at the box office and made nearly Rs 2 crore on the first day. Ajay Devgn’s film has received negative reviews with critics panning the screenplay. This is expected to go against the film. Azaad, either way, needs a good jump today (January 18) to make up for the underwhelming start.?
