With the drama Luck by Chance, Zoya Akhtar made her directing debut. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, an ensemble comedy-drama, marked her breakthrough. Along with many other projects, Akhtar directed the comedy-drama Dil Dhadakne Do. With the romantic comedy-drama series Made in Heaven and the crime thriller series Dahaad (2023¨Cpresent), she made her foray into the over-the-top (OTT) market. She directed the live-action Netflix feature film adaption of The Archies in 2023.
Based in New York City, Mira Nair is an Indian-American filmmaker. Her most well-known movies are Mississippi Masala, The Namesake, Monsoon Wedding, which won a Golden Lion, and Salaam Bombay!, which was nominated for a BAFTA Award for Best Film Not in English and an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Gauri Shinde is renowned for her fearless work and films that focus on women. She writes screenplays and directs them as well. She directed the films "English Vinglish," starring Sridevi, and "Dear Zindagi," starring Alia Bhatt.?
With the critical and commercial successes of the dramas Margarita with a Straw and The Sky Is Pink, Bose's reputation as a filmmaker began to flourish. Drawing inspiration from the story of Malini Chib, her cousin and an activist for handicap rights, Bose's film won both a NETPAC Award and a Sundance Mahindra Global Filmmaker Award. Bose actively supports a number of charitable causes as a philanthropist.
Canadian filmmaker and screenwriter Deepa Mehta, who was born in India, is most renowned for her Elements Trilogy, which includes the films Fire (1996), Earth (1998), and Water. Water was the official entry from Canada for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and Earth was the official entry from India for the same title. This makes Water the third non-French Canadian film to be submitted in that category, following Zacharias Kunuk's 2001 Inuktitut-language feature Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner and Attila Bertalan's 1990 invented-language film A Bullet to the Head.
