On day 2, the film experienced a dip in box office performance, garnering Rs 2.75 crore. The sports drama appears to be encountering difficulties in attracting audiences.
According to Sacnik, initial estimates indicated that the movie earned Rs 2.75 crore on Friday, marking a significant decline.
Maidaan earned Rs 4.5 crore on its opening day. Maidaan recounts the inspiring story of coach SA Rahim and his football squad's triumph at the 1962 Asian Games, receiving positive reviews upon release. Alongside Ajay Devgn, the film features Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and a cadre of young talents.
The movie stars an actor like Ajay Devgn, so everyone thought it would attract a lot of viewers and make a lot of money. But the first-day earnings were much lower than expected, barely reaching ?5 crore. This has made people wonder if the movie can recover from such a bad start.
Critics on social media say the movie didn't do well for a few reasons, like not enough advertising, tough competition from other movies, and not getting much attention from audiences. Even though the story was good and the actors did well, "Maidaan" didn't connect with viewers, so not many people went to see it in theatres.
Here's a breakdown of the Hindi (2D) occupancy rates for different time slots on its opening day:
The film's Hindi version boasted 14.56% occupancy rate on its opening day.
Breaking down the occupancy rates further, "Maidaan" witnessed a flow of audience engagement throughout the day, with morning shows registering a 9.91% occupancy, followed by afternoon and evening shows soaring to 16.69% and 16.84%, respectively.
The night shows maintained 14.78% occupancy, reflecting the film's widespread appeal across different time slots.

I started to find out about his mannerisms, the way he spoke, and then I met Ajay sir again and told him I didn¡¯t see many dialogues in the film. I even told him about giving a narration and telling him about Syed Abdul Rahim. I gave him a one-hour narration and he just told me, ¡®Tell me what am I supposed to do¡¯. He is a director¡¯s actor and will never question them, I saw this man¡¯s transformation from Singham Ajay Devgn to Sayed Abdul Rahim in Maidaan. In an interview with Telegraph, the filmmaker said while talking about the film, "I had no idea about Syed Abdul Rahim.
