Milind Soman To Play 1971 War Veteran Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw In Kangana Ranaut's Emergency
While a biopic on 1971 Indo-Pak war veteran Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw is already in the works with Vicky Kaushal essaying the lead role in the biopic,?Sam Bahadur's role will also be brought to life on the silver screen by?Milind Soman in Kangana Ranaut's Emergency.?
The first look of Soman as Sam Manekshaw has been unveiled.
In Emergency, Kangana Ranaut will be seen in the lead role of Indira Gandhi. The film also stars Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry and Anupam Kher in important roles. This is Ranaut's second directorial after?Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi?which she is also co-producing along with Renu Pitti.??
Speaking about Milind Soman's role, Kangana said that Sam Manekshaw and Indira Gandhi worked together during the war and strategised against the enemy.
"Sam Manekshaw was the hero of the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. Milind Soman¡¯s overpowering screen presence and talent were ideal for the kind of actor we were looking for to play this important role. Sam Manekshaw had clarity of vision and was a strong-headed individual and his relevance is huge in the film," she told the media.?

She added, "The film showcases how two very strong-headed personalities, Mrs Gandhi and Sam Maneskshaw, worked together to fight the war against Pakistan. This chapter of history intrigues me a lot as it delves into how things worked and panned out for them. We are privileged that Milind Sir will be playing this role. I hope this film does justice to his enormous talent and great screen presence."

Not only is Kangana directing and producing the film, she is also starring in the lead role of?former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. It was earlier reported that director Sai Kabir, who worked with Ranaut for her 2014 movie Revolver Rani, will be helming the project. However, later the Dhaakad actress said that she will direct the film herself as she believes that no one can tackle the project better than her.??
On the other hand, in the biopic titled Sam Bahadur which is being directed by Raazi fame?Meghna Gulzar,?Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra will also be seen in pivotal roles.??
