Railway Officer Calls 12th Fail 'Exaggerated', Recalls Meeting IPS Manoj Sharma And His Wife
Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) officer Ananth Rupanagudi who knows real-life IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma and his wife Shraddha Joshi recently watched Vidhu Vinod Chopra's much-talked-about movie 12th Fail and reviewed it on Twitter. He said that the film was "slightly exaggerated" and highlighted the UPSC interview panel members are not so judgemental. He also reminisced about meeting with Manoj and his wife.?
Railway officer thinks 12th Fail is slightly exaggerated
The Railway Officer said that the film is well-made but takes some artistic liberties, particularly in exaggerating the UPSC examination process.
"Regarding the #12thFailMovie, it's reasonably well-made with certain 'artistic liberties' that slightly exaggerate the UPSC examination process and efforts. Yes, it requires a lot of effort but generally, the interview panel members aren't hostile and aren't so judgemental," he wrote on X and added in another tweet,?"But I understand that these aspects have to flow with the script. Normally the interviews are held in summer and a coat can cause a great amount of discomfort. But the love story is very well portrayed & from the little I have seen, Manoj is still the strongly besotted husband"

He also recalled IPS Manoj Sharma and his wife Shraddha from when they were posted in Mumbai and wrote, "So finally watched #12thFail last night not just because of the rave reviews but because we know @ManojSharmaIPS and his wife, Shraddha, when I was posted in Mumbai. We met through a common friend a few times. They are a great couple and Manoj is such a wonderful person."
Sharing the anecdote, he added,?"Of course, we did not know anything about his struggles to reach where he is now. When we met at a birthday party then, he had just been posted as DCP, Zone-1, the most high-profile and prestigious police district of Mumbai and his team had just cracked a major hawala case."
Furthermore, he wrote, "For anyone who has met him, his humility and sense of humour are endearing qualities. His earlier tenure was as SP, Kolhapur, and on his invitation, we had visited the city where Shraddha took us around and we even stayed over at the SP's bungalow, which he had retained."
