There are a lot of stigmas that are attached to depression. For many, depression means therapy or medicines. For Bollywood celebrities, coming out and speaking about depression need a lot of guts. Deepika Padukone spoke about her depression on national television and thanks to her that now, speaking about depression is no longer a taboo.?
Without fearing any sort of judgement, Karan Johar too spoke about dealing with tough time. The latest celebrity to join the bandwagon of spreading awareness on mental health and how important it is for people in mental stress to reach out for help is Ranveer Singh.
Sharing a hard-hitting and thought-provoking post about mental health and depression, he wrote:
"1 out of every 5 Indians will suffer from depression in their lifetime.
Even with all the progress we¡¯ve made in these last few years, there is still a lot of stigmas attached to mental health and the treatment of it. This needs to change for our collective well-being.
There is a difference between being sad and being depressed.
There is hope for both, those who need help and for those who want to give help.
Let's join hands to promote awareness about mental health along with the Live Love Laugh Foundation as they launch India's first Mental Health Awareness Campaign.
Always remember to Live, Love and Laugh."
