Popular filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga is all set to bring his highly anticipated movie Animal to theatres on 1st December. Recently, Reddy revisited his iconic remake of Arjun Reddy which was titled Kabir Singh and starred Shahid Kapoor. Vanga wishes to never make a remake again because of the difficulties he faced.
While talking to iDream Media recently, Vanga shared that after Arjun Reddy worked, he was flooded with offers from Bollywood. He shared, ¡°I was continuously getting calls from Mumbai to do the remake. First, it was pitched to Ranveer Singh. I wanted to do it with him. But finally, he decided he would not do it because it was too dark for him at that time.¡±
He said, ¡°All industry producers, distributors, everybody saw Arjun Reddy.¡± Soon after Shahid was approached, people weren¡¯t convinced. Vanga revealed, ¡°Shahid¡¯s track record was a concern; none of his solo films had done Rs 100 crore then, his highest was Rs 65 crore. They used to say Rs 55 crore, Rs 65 crore is the kind of business Telugu movies do.¡±
¡°¡®Why are you doing it with this guy? If it was Ranveer, the box office would be higher¡¯. But I was always sure about Shahid, he¡¯s a fantastic actor.¡±
Made on a budget of around Rs 36 crore, Kabir Singh emerged to be a blockbuster earning around Rs 380 crore worldwide. Sandeep is confident that Animal will gross more than Rs 50 crore on opening day in the Hindi belt and might earn Rs 300 crore globally in the first three days itself.
Ranbir Kapoor talked about the same at a Bengaluru event and expressed, ¡°We are not releasing a film this long because we are arrogant about it. We felt that the story required this amount of time to reach the audience in the best way possible. All of us have seen the cut of this film which was 3 hours, 49 minutes, and that also held. Wo bhi entertaining tha.¡±
¡°But Sandeep has worked very hard to bring the length down. Because you cannot stretch it that much also. But I hope that the audience doesn¡¯t get panicked by the length. Just come and experience cinema at its best.¡±
