The White Tiger star Adarsh Gourav became a sensation overnight with hisoutstanding performance as Balram Halwai in the said film. The 26-year-old was evennominated in BAFTA best actor category along side Anthony Hopkins and many other biggies.
However, the actor couldn¡¯t win, but he has no regrets and rather calls himselfprivileged to share the same category with the living legend.
To begin with, we told him that he was trending on social media along withAnthony Hopkins and asked what was that feeling like, he replied,?
¡°I am just so honouredto be in the same list of Anthony Hopkins, Chadwick Bosemen and all theselegends. I feel it¡¯s a great start I have gotten off too. I also want to pushmy boundaries and do great characters¡±.
When asked what was the feeling when he lost the best actor trophy, he said,?
¡°I am ahuge fan of Anthony Hopkins; I don¡¯t think anybody deserved to win more thanhim. I have been a fan when I was a young boy and just to see my name writtennext to him was almost like a dream. It is overwhelming for me. I guess, thefact that maybe Anthony Hopkins probably knew that I was one of the leads running inthe award list, so I don¡¯t think I would have asked for anything more."
Adarsh has seen the fame at a peak at a very young age, we asked if heever in his wildest dreams, thought? that The White Tiger would become so big for him,he said,?
¡°No not at all. Of course, I knew it was going to be abig film, but I don¡¯t think anybody thinks about the outcome, that time we were only thinking about making a great film. The end goal in mind was to make a film that wewill give great experience to the audience. ¡°
Well, the journey has just started for Adarsh and he cannot survive on thatone-hit fame for life, when asked if heis ready to face the music as he has no backing or godfather in the industry, hesaid
¡°I am just fortunate that I am getting work, and it is such a great timeto be an actor right now because everybody is getting good work, whether youcome from a filmy background or not. As long as you are ready to work hard,there are lots of opportunities. And I don¡¯t see star kids getting more opportunitiesas a problem.
I have been doing some great work, from last November. I am working onsomething and especially with the kind of people I really want. Soyes, I am reading a lot of scripts, I am auditioning, so I just hope everythingworks out.¡±
Talking about his journey Adarsh said,?
¡°I started acting when I was 13 years old. One of my experiences in acting was in school and then around the same time Igot My Name Is Khan, that was my first shot, then I auditioned for a lot offilms, and kept getting the part.
I have seen tough times, I had my mom paying my rent, but I feel there aremany who have seen tougher times than me. I just want to work hard and put my passionin a right direction."
Further adding, he?said, ¡°Everybody goes through a struggle, depends onhow you take it. I still doubt myself, I am sometimes low on confidence, but Ijust keep my focus and keep moving, every actor goes through this, that is also a journey.¡±
On being asked about favouritism happening in the industry, he said,
?¡°Ihave not experienced that. Also, I feel parents who have worked very hard to achievewhat they have today and if they want their child to have the privilege if theyhave talent then there's nothing wrong in that. For example, we have Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor;one cannot imagine the industry without them. They are great actors and Ireally look up to their work.¡±
The boy has indeed come a long way in a short span and is here to conquer.
