A month after its release,?The Kashmir Files is still making headlines. The Vivek Agnihotri directorialis causing havoc at the box office and most recently, the movie starring Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty among others has become the first Hindi film to cross?Rs 250 crores post the pandemic.?
The movie has earned Rs 250.73 crores until now, despite tough competition from SS Rajamouli's multi-lingual RRR, which has crossed Rs 1000 crores globally.??
In just eight days of its release, The Kashmir Files had entered the Rs 100 core club. The strong word of mouth and debates around the movie on social media helped increase the footfall to theatres. The moving story of Kashmiri Pandits has left the audiences stunned.?
On the eighth day of its release, The Kashmir Files broke the box office record of Dangal and stood at par with SS Rajamouli's biggest hit Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.??
As per reports, the movie was first released on 630 screens, but because of the incredible response more shows were added subsequently. It gave a tough competition to movies like Batman, Radhe Shyam, and Gangubai Kathiawadi.? ?
The advance bookings for the movie have been phenomenal. Even Bollywood stars like Taapsee Pannu were happy to see a small budget film making big waves at the box office.?
Comparing the success of RRR with that of The Kashmir Files, Ram Gopal Varma said, "RRR is not a gamechanger and according to me, I don¡¯t think it can bring about a change. It is a film that is produced on a lavish scale. And RRR is a kind of film that comes once in four or five years. To mount a film on such a scale, you need a director with a great track record ¨C someone like Rajamouli."
