Vidhu Vinod Chopra Shares Why He Made '12th Fail' With Vikrant Massey And Not 'Munna Bhai 3'

It has been years or rather decades since fans have been waiting for Munna Bhai 3. Arshad Warsi had shattered our hopes when he said that the film might never happen. Years ago, we were told that the film would be called Munna Bhai Chale America. In fact, at the end of Lage Raho Munna Bhai, we were also shown a teaser. However, Dutt's imprisonment and other projects in the pipeline led to its delay.?

Earlier this year, Arshad Warsi told India Today, "Munna Bhai 3 may not happen. This is the weirdest thing. We have a director who wants to make it, a producer who wants to produce it, an audience who wants to see it, actors who want to act in it and still it is not happening."

Now, Vidhu Vinod Chopra who produced the two films said that he made Vikrant Massey starrer 12th Fail instead of Munna Bhai 3.

"I could have made 'Munnabhai' 3, 4, 5, 6... and be a multi-millionaire, which I'm not. I chose to make 12th Fail, with?Vikrant Massey," Chopra told PTI in an interview.??

12th Fail which is winning audiences hearts and has already been called a brilliant film is a story of a man who failed his 12th standard but became an IPS officer. The movie's story is reportedly inspired by the real-life story of?IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma?and stars Vikrant Massey--who Vidhu thinks is one of the finest actors in the country--in the lead role.

Meanwhile, Arshad Warsi had said that three scripts for Munna Bhai 3 are ready but with him being a perfectionist, he is not satisfied with those. "So, till the time he is not 100-200 percent sure of the script, he won’t start it. When you ask him, he will always say yes, never a no. He will say 'main kar raha hu... ek baar script fix ho jaaye na, mujhe yeh pasand nahi woh pasand nahi'. Once he crosses that stage, he will start."

The last film in the franchise,?Lage Raho Munna Bhai?was released in 2006.??
