Here's Why Sanjay Dutt And Arshad Warsi's Munna Bhai 3 Might Never Happen

When Munna Bhai said, “Life mein jab time kam rehta hai na… double jeene ka, double”, we all felt it.

Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi starrer Munna Bhai MBBS was a slice-of-life film that turned out to be a guilty pleasure for all our ‘Ab nahi ho raha yaar’ days. The franchise saw two successful films in the years 2003 and 2006. It’s been decades that people have been wanting Munna Bhai 3 but guess what, it might never happen.

Recently, several pictures and videos of Sanjay and Arshad circulated together hinting at a possible collaboration after 17 years.

But unfortunately, this was for an ad commercial. A source close to HT confirmed, “There is no film in the making. They shot for a commercial for a hospital, and the BTS video was released online, which started the rumours.” Both the released parts were directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Sad but they are the speculated reason behind the shelving of Munna Bhai 3. HT source further added, “There are very less chances of the third film happening now because of the fallout between Hirani and Chopra. It has been several years since they parted ways following the #MeToo allegations against Hirani.”

The source further revealed that a film titled Munna Bhai Chale America once entered into pre-production but was shelved due to unknown reasons.

Star World revealed that Fox Studios, the studio behind the Munna Bhai franchise, had back then decided that they “would pull the plug on Munna Bhai 3 if Hirani was found guilty. The studio stands in solidarity with the survivor”. Where Arshad Warsi has lost hope that Munna Bhai 3 will ever be made, Sanjay Dutt is still hopeful.

Last year, Sanjay in an interview with Bollywood Life shared, “Of course, we’re making every effort for Munna Bhai 3. Rajkumar also wants to do it, so I hope we’re able to make it happen soon. When talking about the fans, I’m sure that they’re most interested in Munna Bhai, so I’ll finally say this the fans should please ask Raju Hirani also, so that we finally get it (laughs a bit).”

Arshad on the other hand told Indian Express, “We have been waiting for 16 years since Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Honestly, I don’t think Part 3 will happen. I wish that we could have a proper closure. We owe that much to the audience, but it’s been too long.”
