Actor Siddharth Gives Up Police Protection As He Feels Officers Can Be Utilised For COVID-19 Handling

Actor Siddharth (popularly known for his role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Rang De Basanti) tweeted a set of accusations against the Tamil Nadu division of BJP's IT Cell.

Tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Siddharth tweeted, "My phone number was leaked by members of TN BJP and?@BJPtnITcell.?Over 500 calls of abuse, rape, and death threats to me & family for over 24 hrs. All numbers recorded (with BJP links and DPs) and handing over to Police. I will not shut up. Keep trying.?@narendramod?@AmitShah."

Now, Siddarth took to his Twitter to thank the Tamil Nadu government for providing him with police protection upon receiving death, rape, and abuse threats. However, in the same tweet, the actor gave up the police protection as well.

Siddharth wrote, "Thank you @tnpoliceoffl for the protection. I am the first person in my entire family's history to be given the same. However, I would politely like to give up this privilege so the same officers' time is better used for something else during this pandemic. Thank you again (sic)."??

Truly impressive considering we have celebrities like Kangana Ranaut who were showing off police protection provided to them by the government, people were quick to praise Siddharth for giving up this privilege.?
