Adil Hussain doesn't mince his words. His honest opinions often spark debate and sometimes even offend some people. For instance, when he recently admitted he regretted doing Sandeep Reddy Vanga's?Kabir Singh, he angered the filmmaker so much that he lashed out at him saying that he would replace his face using Artificial Intelligence. The English Vinglish actor on the other hand remained unfazed and unwilling to reconsider his opinion.
Recently, when the actor who has been a part of Oscar-winning movies like Life Of Pi was asked about regional movies like RRR taking the global world stage by a storm and if Assamese cinema will soon be seen there, he clarified to the host of the podcast Guwhati Connections that he doesn't consider Jr NTR and Ram Charan starrer film to be a great film. He called the Telugu film which won an Oscar for best original song Naatu Naatu, an entertaining film.?
Adil Hussain said, "Assamese cinema has already gone there. It doesn't have to be RRR kind of film. I don't consider RRR as a great film. It is an entertaining film. Also, don't forget that Oscar is... It's a game that you have to play. It of course has a very very high standard of choice that they generally go for good films, but not necessarily the greatest. Film like RRR are very entertaining, extremely entertaining... that much I know... but it is not? a great film. I would rather prefer a Village Rockstar than RRR."
As the clip went viral on social media, a lot of people agreed with Adil Hussain's comment that RRR is an entertaining film and not necessarily one of the greatest ever. "It¡¯s fair to call it an entertaining film and not consider it as great film which I am sure lot of people would agree with," a reddit user wrote. "He's expressing his opinion... not every film has to be a great film to be massively successful. Better films than RRR have received less attention at the Oscars. Better songs than Naatu Naatu have failed to get Western recognition," added another one. "Valid opinion. It's okay for a movie to not be the GOAT and still be entertaining," another user opined. "One of the big reasons why Rajamouli movies are so well received is because they are very well made and well rounded.?His movies are less about groundbreaking stories itself and more about brilliant storytelling skills," said another user. "He makes sense...rrr only gained popularity because it showcased patriotism and portrayed similarity to lord Ram, otherwise the story and visuals were mediocre. And the song got Oscars award, not the movie itself," another user opined.
