Recently, Bollywood director Karan Johar expressed his opinions on storytelling and filmmaking. He began by discussing SS Rajamouli's films, stating that although they don't make sense, the audience still finds the director's convictions compelling.??
In an interview with Komal Nahata for his YouTube channel, Karan said, ¡°Conviction is very important. If you look at anything, especially if you analyse the journey of the best filmmakers, you¡¯ll see that the biggest hits are built on conviction. Logic doesn¡¯t matter in a film. Take any film by Rajamouli sir, for example. Where do you see logic? You only see conviction. And when conviction comes to the forefront, even the audience believes in it.¡±
?He went on to say that the reason the major movies, including Animal, RRR, and Gadar, are successful is because they were made with conviction. He stressed that it is a sign of the filmmaker's unwavering faith in the plot if a character is able to defeat a thousand people with a single hand pump. He highlighted that director Anil Sharma had complete faith in Sunny Deol's ability to carry out such moments convincingly, using Gadar as an example. He says that every filmmaker should have this kind of commitment because it can make any movie a box office success. He pointed out that the true difficulty comes when filmmakers start to question themselves, cast doubt on their audience, and become unduly preoccupied with logic.
For those who are unaware, Karan Johar announced Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, his upcoming romance comedy. Kartik Aaryan plays the lead in the Sameer Vidwans-directed movie.
