After a Bengali actress made allegations of sexual misconduct against Malayalam movie director?Ranjith Balakrishnan, now a Kerala man has come forward with similar allegations against him. The man revealed that the incident took place in 2012 at a five-star hotel. He also added that he had told a notable actress in the?Malayalam film industry at that time but she ignored it.?
The man said that incident had left him traumatised but he gathered the guts to register a case after Justice Hema Committee report, which highlights harassment and exploitation in the Mollywood industry. Sharing details of the incident, he said he first met Ranjith in Kerala's Kozhikode when he was shooting for the film Bavuttiyude Namathil. He told him about his aspirations of becoming an actor when he gave him his number and instructed him to not call but to message him.?
When he did as he was told, he was called to a Bengaluru hotel. When he reached there, the receptionist told him that visiting hours were over. When he told Ranjith the same, the Malayalam director asked him to use the back entrance instead. As he reached his room, he found him in an inebriated state. As per the Kerala man, the director asked him to drink before making him strip.?
"The director said he wanted to see how I looked without clothes in a mirror and wanted to take some pictures to show his girlfriend who was also an actor and stayed in the same room," he said. The man claimed he was sexually abused.
He was quoted as saying, "When Ranjith told me to stand naked, he was talking to an actress. I have already revealed the name of that actress¡ªRevathi. Ranjith told me it was Revathi. I don't know if there is any relationship between Ranjith and Revathi, but Ranjith took my photos and sent them to her." Furthermore, he revealed that Ranjith told him that Revathi liked what she saw.?
The incident came to light after a case was filed against the director on complaint of a Bengali actress who accused him of touching her inappropriately with sexual intent after inviting her to act in Paleri Manikyam in 2009. A case under?IPC Section 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) has been registered against Ranjith.
