Akshay Kumar who starred in a movie based on menstrual hygiene is still hailed as?Padman. He shattered a lot of stereotypes when he, as the hero of the movie, had put on a sanitary pad and squatted several times to ensure that it sits just right,
Since then, he has come forward several times to help this cause. On Menstrual Hygiene Day, the actor announced his support to a campaign that provides sanitary napkins and kits to the female daily wage workers.
The initiative is lead by Samarpan, a group of doctors and civil servants working to serve migrant workers and daily-wage earners. The group has so far distributed over 19,000 sanitation kits in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Jodhpur, Anand, Lattur and Ujjain.?
