A dig at Namita Thapar? Anupam Mittal reveals you can pay money to be at Cannes Film Festival
How come all the influencers have made it to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for the past couple of years? This year, there were more Indian influencers than people from Indian film fraternity at the Cannes 2024. Isn't this event about celebrating the art of cinema? Amidst this confusion, Anupam Mittal has revealed he was approached too. He was asked to pay a sum of money and, in turn, he would get to walk the red carpet. After hearing his statement, fans were stunned. Some others thought he was taking a dig at fellow Shark Tank India judge Namita Thapar, who made her debut at?French Riviera this year.?
Anupam Mittal says he was approached for the Cannes Film Festival 2024
In an interview with Filmygyan, the CEO of People Group and CEO of Shaadi.com said,?"Mujhe bhi approach kiya gaya that ki itne paise de do aur aa jao Cannes. Maine kaha yaar... Cannes jayenge toh bilkul haq se jayenge paise de ke thodi jayenge."?
Mittal said he has been to Cannes about 20 years ago
"Mujhe yaad hai mai gaya that Cannes kareeb 20 saal pehle... maine ek choti si film banayi this toh voh vaha film festival mein dikhayai gayi. Meri tab aukat nahi this ki mai red carpet pe chalu. Lekin sirf waha jana, itne bade world-famous stars ko dekhna jo kahin nahi dikhenge aapko..."

Mittal thinks Cannes has now become Juhu or Andheri
"Ab toh matlab jo bhi second aap scroll kar rahe hain... in some level lag raha hai hum juhu andheri aa gaye hain."

Fans feel he was indirectly taking a dig at Shark Tank India judge Namita Thapar who made her debut at the Cannes red carpet this year. "No Namita Thapar was harmed," a fan wrote. "He's totally spilling the tea about the girl who was striking poses and got zero attention from anyone," said another one. "Anupam indirectly Namita ko troll kar raha hai," said another one.
During the Cannes Film Festival, Mittal had tweeted, "There was a time only the super-famous could but these days anybody Canne." Fans at that time also thought that he was taking a dig at Namita Thapar.?
