The entire nation has once again been left in shock with the news of a female postgraduate female doctor being gang-raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The gruesome details that are emerging are just beyond comprehension, highlighting the brutal reality of women security in India. The incident has sparked outrage as well as grief among people as a horrendous crime was committed inside a place which is meant to save lives.
In the memory of the victim, Bollywood director and actor Farhan Akhtar penned down a heart-wrenching poem as a tribute to the RG Kar doctor's tragic fate. Taking to Instagram, he wrote,?"Speak for me,?when I am gone,?of shattered dreams,?and unfinished songs,?Speak of empty canvases,?of poems half written,?of stillborn promises,?the death of a kitten,?Speak of homes on fire,?speak of decaying desire,?of unrealised ambition,?a cause stripped,?of fruitionSpeak for me,?when I am gone,?speak of me,?when I am gone". Previously, Alia Bhatt, Hrithik Roshan, Swara Bhasker, Sara Ali Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Parineeti Chopra, Richa Chadha, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Preity Zinta among others shared their condolences and expressed anger in the case.?
Calling the incident disgusting, Preity Zinta said, "As a woman, I want to say I¡¯m sorry to Nirbhaya, to Moumita and to every girl that has been wronged. I¡¯m sorry I didn¡¯t fight hard enough for you in the past. But not anymore! None of us are safe until all of us are safe."
In a post, actress Kareena Kapoor wrote, "12 years later, the same story, the same protest. But we are still waiting for change."?Parineeti Chopra said, "If it¡¯s too difficult for you to read, imagine what it was for her. Disgusting. Horrific. Hang him by his b***s." Ayushmann Khurrana also penned down a heart-wrenching poem called?Kaash Main Bhi Ladka Hoti.?
Actress Richa Chadha urged Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee to ensure justice for the Kolkata rape-murder victim. "The women of this country expect a fair and impartial investigation from you @MamataOfficial, and swift justice. You¡¯re the only woman currently to occupy the post of Chief Minister. #JusticeForMoumita," she wrote. Actress Swara Bhasker wrote, "The rape and murder of the resident doctor in #Kolkata is gruesome & horrifying & and a harsh reminder of how we as a society treat women no matter if they are the ones who will treat and save us should the need arise."
