Kangana Ranaut's much-anticipated movie Dhaakad turned out to be a dud at the box office. If reports are to be believed, Dhaakad's box office collection for day eight was about Rs 4,000. Only twenty tickets across India were reportedly sold. People trolled the film online and made memes about its failure and, now, Kangana has finally reacted to the movie's box office failure.?
This comes after Dhaakad was called Kangana Ranaut's ninth flop in a row after Thalaivii, Panga, Judgementall Hai Kya, Manikarnika, Simran, Rangoon, Katti Batti, and I Love NY. Her last hit was Tanu Weds Manu Returns, which?fans pointed out on social media.?
She wrote, "2019 I gave Manikarnika 160 cr ka superhit hit, 2020 was covid year. 2021 I gave the biggest film of my career Thalaivii which came on OTT and was a huge success. I see lots of curated negativity but 2020 is the year of blockbuster¡ªlock up hosting. And it¡¯s not over yet¡I have great hopes with it."
Kangana will not only be directing this movie, but she will also star in the lead role of?former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.?Preparations for the movie have begun as the actress was spotted at the Mumbai airport. She jetted off to Delhi for the recce of Emergency.
It was earlier reported that director Sai Kabir, who worked with Ranaut for her 2014 movie Revolver Rani, will be helming the project. However, later the Dhaakad actress said that she will direct the film herself as she believes that no one can tackle the project better than her.??
"Pleased to wear director's hat again, after working on 'Emergency' for more than a year, I finally figured no one can direct it better than me, collaborating with fabulous writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments I am determined to do it," she had written on Koo App.??
The National Award-winning actor had earlier clarified that Emergency is not a biopic but a political drama. She said, "It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi. It is a grand period film. To be precise, it is a political drama that will help my generation to understand the socio-political landscape of current India."
