Born as Jaskaran Singh Aujla, Karan Aujla who is now known by his stage name, is one of the most popular Punjabi singers in the nation. Did you know he wrote the song GOAT (the song Diljit sang on Jimmy Fallon's talk show) for Diljit Dosanjh in five minutes? The man recently opened about his life and struggles and mentioned how there's one thing that always makes his heart ache. Despite becoming so popular and making so much money, he says he still feels a void in his heart - which is growing with his success. "I wonder who am I trying to make happy, myself? I miss my parents, I wish they were here to witness all this. They lived in a small village all their life."
He was nine years old when his father passed away in 2006. "This was the first time I got hit. It was the first tragedy in my life... Sometimes when I close my eyes, I still see that bike that we bought on Diwali," he said adding that his father died in an accident on that bike months later in December. "On his funeral, I was acting like I was sleeping, they (family) got me out, I saw his body, I touched his feet. I didn't have the courage to perform his last rites. I just watched my cousins do it. I sometimes regret not doing it at that time."?
Talking about his father, he said that he remember some of the memories including the one where his father was riding a bike with him.?"Like if I would want something, I would elbow him in his stomach and go 'stop, stop.'"?He added the memories keep flashing.? ?
The Admirin' You singer's mother passed away in 2011 when he was 14 years old. After his father's death, she married off both his sisters abroad to ensure the kids were secure.?"My mom got diagnosed with cancer (gall bladder cancer in last stage). Then there was a point when I got to know she only had 8 months. We didn't tell our mother. I've literally seen her going away day by day in front my of eyes. I would come back from school, sit there and grab her feet. When she had pain, she would tell her sisters who were taking care of her the whole time because somebody had to be there, send the kid out to my chacha's house, and she would be screaming all night. Knowing all this, I would still get up in morning, go to school, and act all normal. There were times when people would ask me in school as to where my dad is and I didn't know how to process these things. Those were hard times," he told Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube podcast show.
