In anticipation of the much-awaited release of "Maidaan," Ajay Devgn recently opened up about his experience portraying the legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim.
Rahim's transformative impact on Indian football has been a subject of immense curiosity among fans, and Devgn's portrayal promises to bring his inspiring journey to life on the big screen.
In a recent interview, Devgn expressed his astonishment upon learning about Rahim's contributions to Indian football. "Apart from being a great story, I never knew that something like that had happened in our country and football had reached its peak, and only because of, I can't say one man but one man and these players who changed the course of football in the 50s and 60s," he remarked. "In fact, I was shocked and surprised that this would have happened, and there is a person like him, and that was the first thing that this story needs to be told."
"Maidaan" also boasts a stellar cast, including Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Bengali actor Rudrani Ghosh, adding further anticipation to the film's release.
Meanwhile, one more trailer was released that continues from the previous one, featuring Priyamani's character encouraging her husband, Syed Abdul Rahim (portrayed by Ajay Devgn), as he expresses his belief in India's potential for football success during the 1950s.
Produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Akash Chawla, the screenplay and dialogues are penned by Saiwyn Quadras and Ritesh Shah, respectively. The musical score is composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics by Manoj Muntashir Shukla.
Scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 10, 2024, coinciding with Eid, "Maidaan" will also be available in IMAX, promising an immersive cinematic experience for football enthusiasts and moviegoers alike.
