Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty recently called SS Rajamouli's RRR a ¡®gay love story.¡¯ His series of tweets about RRR on Monday, kick-started a huge storm on social media and was even slammed by fans of the Telugu movie including Baahubali producer Shobu Yarlagadda.?
The producer slammed Resul Pookutty for his remarks and said that it¡¯s extremely disappointing that someone with such accomplishments can ¡®stoop so low¡¯.
Shobu Yarlagadda said that he doesn¡¯t think SS Rajamouli's magnum opus is a homosexual love story and questioned Resul Pookutty that even if it was, how was it a bad thing??
To this, Resul Pookutty responded saying that he had merely quoted something that was already available in the public domain and that he meant no offense. He also said that he totally agree with Shobu Yarlagadda that there's nothing wrong even if RRR was a 'gay love story,' and asked him not to take it seriously.?
The controversy surrounding RRR came to exist after a user tweeted, "Saw 30 minutes of garbage called RRR last night," to which the Oscar winner Resul Pookutty wrote, "Gay love story" thus starting a massive debate on Twitter.?
SS Rajamouli's RRR, a fictional story set in the 1920's pre-independent period tells the stories of two actual heroes and revolutionaries ¨C Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. It features Ram Charan and Jr NTR in lead roles as Ram and Bheem respectively.
