Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Fail is winning praises from all corners. From fans to celebrities like Kangana Ranaut, everyone is getting emotional about the real-life story of IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma, which has been brilliantly portrayed on the big screen.?
Adding to the bandwagon is filmmaker Rohit Shetty who met with the "real-life hero" who emerged out of poverty to achieve the position of an IPS officer?and revealed that he had worked with him during the Covid-19 pandemic.?
"Meet the real hero of '12th Fail' Manoj Kumar Sharma, had the honour of working with him during the Covid, at that time he was serving for Mumbai police," he wrote.?
He added, "If you have not seen '12th Fail' please do watch. It¡¯s an inspiring story specially for students and youngsters (sic)."
Vikrant Massey who brilliantly essayed the role of IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma in the movie commented on the post, "The two of you!!! (fire and red hearts) (sic)." Medha Shankar who has become the internet's new crush after Animal's Triptii Dimri also posted "Sir" with joined hands and smiling emoji.
For the unversed, during the pandemic, the Singham director made eight?hotels across Mumbai available to police officers on duty, not just for rejuvenation as well as meals.
The Mumbai Police had thanked him for this gesture. In a tweet, it wrote, "#RohitShetty has facilitated eight hotels across the city for our on-duty #CovidWarriors to rest, shower & change with arrangements for breakfast & dinner. We thank him for this kind gesture and for helping us in #TakingOnCorona and keeping Mumbai safe."
Rohit has had a long relationship with the police. He has also made several cop dramas including Singham, Singham Returns, Simmba and Sooryavanshi among others. When he launched the trailer of Sooryavanshi, he said, "There are a lot of real-life cops, with whom we have researched. Now this (franchise) has become a brand of cops. We just have to tell them we want to make a film and everything is done for us."
He had once joked, "Sometimes I get confused whether I work for The Hindi Film Industry or The Police."
