Sameer Wankhede, a former officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) who oversaw the drugs investigation on Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan, expressed sympathy for the parents of drug users.
He told Lallantop, "I won't talk about him (Shah Rukh Khan). But whenever we take action against someone (in a drugs-related case), we feel bad for their parents and relatives. Especially if that person has consumed (the drugs) or is in a habit of it. You feel that the person must be sent to rehab," said Wankhede.
"We once had caught a woman who was a drug peddler. She had young children. So in such cases, we feel bad. But at the end of the day, it is our duty (to catch such people)," he added.
Aryan Khan, the son of Shah Rukh Khan, was detained by the NCB in October 2021 in relation to a drug bust case involving a Mumbai cruise. It was claimed that Aryan Khan was in possession of and consuming illegal substances and narcotics while on the cruise. Aryan Khan was allegedly using narcotics when he went to a party on a Mumbai cruise with his pals. It required several hearings and more than a week of custody for Aryan Khan to be freed on bail.
Aryan Khan was declared not guilty and cleared in the narcotics bust case by NCB following several months of judicial proceedings.
Aryan's arrest resulted in the leakage of alleged conversations between Shah Rukh and Sameer Wankhede, in which the actor begged Wankhede to have mercy on his son.?
