Shah Rukh Khan lost both his parents at a pretty young age. He wanted to make them feel proud of his achievements, but sadly both of them passed away before he began his acting journey.?
He was 15 years old when his father Mir Taj Mohammed Khan passed away due to cancer, and his mother Lateef Fatima died in 1991 from complications of diabetes. It was only after their deaths that he moved to Mumbai.?
In an old clip doing the rounds, SRK tells Amitabh Bachchan, "My father's mother was Kashmiri. So, he told me I should visit these three places at least once in my life, whether he is there or not.?He said I must see Istanbul, Rome, and Kashmir. He told me, 'Baki do jagah mere bina bhi dekh lena par Kashmir mere bina mat dekhna."
"So, he died very early, and I have been all over the world. But I have never visited Kashmir. I got many opportunities... friend called, family members went on vacation... but I have never been to Kashmir because my father said, 'Kashmir mere bina mat dekhna... mai dikhaunga...'"
This emotional video is winning hearts. Some people pointed out that SRK visited Kashmir during the shooting of Jab Tak Hai Jaan. At that time, SRK had said that Yash Chopra was like a father figure to him and so he visited Kashmir with him. Sadly, Yash Chopra passed away after the shooting of the film.?
Recently, SRK visited Kashmir for the shooting of his forthcoming movie Dunki, a film by Rajkumar Hirani which also stars Taapsee Pannu in lead role alongside him.?
Talking about his parent's death earlier, SRK had said, "I was 15 when my father passed away and 26 when my mother passed away. It was very sad for us. The empty house without my parents used to come to bite us (Shah Rukh and his sister Shehnaz Lalarukh Khan). The loneliness, pain and sadness of the loss of both my parents, could have been overwhelming enough to take over my life wholly.?I didn¡¯t know what to do. I just felt one night, while at their mazaar that I should fill this void with something. I got a fortunate break in films. For me, acting is not work but a place to vent out my feelings."
