Most film award shows in India do celebrate the magic of cinema, but let's be honest - they are more about the glittery gowns, juicy drama, celebrity performances and the wild moments that leave everyone talking for days. Ahead of?IIFA 2024 awards, a press conference was organised yesterday in Mumbai and it was no less than a stage set for entertainment.?
Apart from hosts of the event being announced - Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar (main event), Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Abhishek Banerjee (IIFA Rocks, a blend of song, dance, film, and fashion, with live performances by top artists) and Rana Daggubati (IIFA Utsavam, which honours the best of South Cinema), here are some of the major highlights from the event.?
At first, the King of Bollywood roasted KJo for not coming for rehearsals and then poked fun at him for hosting many events and doing lesser films. "Please come for the rehearsals, Karan. He has told me he will not rehearse. He wants to do it on Zoom." He also laughed along as he said, "Picturein bhi toh bana mera bhai, tu kitna host karega?"
In a heartwarming gesture, as?Rana Daggubati came up on the stage, he touched not only Shah Rukh's feet but also KJo. As he did this, he said, "We are fully South Indian so this is how we do it. That makes South Indians."?
Praising the actor and his hospitality, Rana mentioned about partying with Shah Rukh Khan at his house in Dubai. "He has entertained the entire four industries, not just as an actor but as a human being."
On the stage, SRK took the microphone to praised the actor for his performance in Stree 2. "Abhishek, it is so wonderful to see you after seeing your wonderful film (Stree 2). I have been wanting to call you," he said.
Joking about his association with IIFA once again after more than a decade, SRK said, "Itni taareef kar rahe ho, bulaya toh ek hi baar tha na pehle. 'Shah Rukh Khan aa raha hai, Shah Rukh Khan aa raha hai...' Ek baar bulaya host karne ke liye, usme 10 saal ke baad bula rahe hai. Aise hi taareef kar raha hai, likh ke leke aaya hai." He then clarified, "I would have always loved to come, but unfortunately, IIFA was hosted at the times when I was shooting."
Are you too loving Shah Rukh Khan's new look? Well, just like all of his fans, we are excited for IIFA awards 2024 too. For the unversed, they are set to take place between?September 27 to 29?at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.?
