Shark Tank India’s Amit Jain Calls Ratan Tata His Mentor, Pens A Long Note On His Birthday

Shark Tank India 2 is all set to start premiering on January 2nd. As the country’s favourite business-based reality show returns, a new entrepreneur is joining as the shark. It is none other than the co-founder and CEO of CarDekho, Amit Jain. In a recent social media post, Amit called industrialist Ratan Tata his mentor.

Revealing that Ratan Tata is an eager listener, Amit penned a long note on Tata’s 85th birthday.

Taking to LinkedIn, Amit wrote, “People often talk about Ratan Tata ji’s humility, his composure and his knowledge. I can confirm that that is the way he is, indeed – on top of being an eager listener! Way back in 2015, Ratan Tata ji became a mentor to us as we looked to grow CarDekho into the unicorn it is today.”

“In his decades of experience in the automobile sector, incredible insights and a genuinely warm demeanour, I can confidently say that we found the best mentor we could have hoped for! When people say that having a mentor sees more talent and ability within you, than you see in yourself, and helps bring it out of you, they aren’t wrong.”

“Everyone deserves a gentle, guiding hand that both supports you when the going gets tough and pushes you to deliver your best. Just ask the two small-town twinkle-eyed entrepreneurs from Jaipur who knew their life was about to change after they met Ratan Tata ji??!,” a part of his long note read.

Amit Jain was recently called the ‘replacement’ of Ashneer Grover, the Shark Tank India 1’s shark who is not returning this season.

He laughed it off and told HT, “I have been reading a lot of this but the reality is that I am a new shark bringing a new dimension to the show. Each shark has his way of telling his own story in his own way. Everyone brings something unique to the table.”

Amit also addressed whether things happening on the show are actually real or not. He said, “Everything you see there is real, just a constricted, edited version of it. The emotion and fights are real too. Everyone sitting there is a successful person. I don’t think they’d take instructions from anyone on how to conduct business deals.”

Returning from season 1, Shark Tank India 2 will feature Namita Thapar (EmCure), Peyush Bansal (Lenskart), Vineeta Singh (Sugar), Aman Gupta (boAt) and Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com) alongside Amit. Ghazal Alagh (Mama Earth) and Ashneer will skip this season as confirmed by the show’s promos.
