After Chinmayi Sripaada raised concerns about Kamal Haasan's support for the wrestlers' protest while remaining silent on the Me Too allegations in the Tamil industry, the singer faced a wave of online harassment from the actor's fans on Twitter.
Now, in response to their allegations, singer Sona Mohapatra has extended her support to Chinmayi in a new tweet.
Chinmayi took to Twitter on Friday to slam Kamal Haasan for supporting wrestlers' protest and questioned, "How can we trust politicians who claim to speak for women's safety while ignoring harassment happening right under their noses?"?
She also anticipated that she will be targeted by fans of the actor online.
"Needless to say, there is an overwhelming amount of anger. Many supporters of Kamal Haasan ask me the same questions rape apologist - survivor shaming that those opposing our Indian wrestlers have asked. The playbook to shame women who name powerful molesters remains the same. Whether it's DMK, BJP, or MNM, they all follow it, only using different language," she wrote in another Twitter post.?
According to reports, Chinmayi also shared screenshots of the inquiries she has been receiving. "Let me reiterate - I am fighting an ACTUAL FORMAL WORK BAN for exposing a molester. Radha Ravi, with his substantial funds and strong BJP connections, has filed a court case against me. I had every right to question an actor who has now become a politician, urging him to clean up the industry he once dominated and make it a safer space for women like me to speak up. I shouldn't be persecuted for it. It was a simple request," the singer went on to explain.?
Sharing Chinmayi's tweet, singer Sona Mohapatra wrote, "Dearest @Chinmayi, sending love, healing, fighting spirit & strength, STRENGTH to you, today & always. To hell with the dim-wits who try & shame you."?
To this, Chinmayi responded to the singer's tweet saying, "Much love Sona" and added several red heart emojis.
