The sudden death of BJP Leader Sonali Phogat has taken a twisted turn as an autopsy showed today that her body had "several blunt force injuries."
Phogat (42) died of a suspected heart attack in Goa on August 23, but her family claims that she was a victim of foul play by her associates.?
"There are multiple blunt force injuries over the body. Given the above, the manner of death is for the investigating officer to ascertain," according to the post-mortem report.
"Women police officers who conducted a physical examination of Sonali Phogat's body have not found any sharp-edged injuries on the body," police revealed.?
"Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was added to the case related to the death of the 42-year-old leader," a senior police official said Thursday.
According to sources, Sudhir Sangwan, Sonali Phogat's assistant, and Sukhwinder Wasi, one of his friends, have been detained and are about to be arrested for their alleged roles in her murder.?
A police team from Anjuna Police station was reportedly dispatched to search for Sangwan and Wasi's hotel rooms.?
On Tuesday morning, Sonali Phogat, 43, was declared dead at the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa. Her relatives contested original claims that she had died of heart arrest.
After the police announced the murder, the family agreed to a post-mortem in Goa even though they had preferred Delhi's AIIMS for the procedure.
Her brother Rinku Dhaka filed a complaint, stating that Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder were responsible for his sister's rape three years ago.?He said that an obscene video was being used to extort her.?
A few hours before her passing, Sonali Phogat, according to Rinku, chatted with her mother, sister, and brother-in-law. He stated she "sounded troubled" and expressed her concerns about her aides, adding that she had chosen to bring legal action against them.
In addition to seizing his sister's phones, property documents, ATM cards, and house keys, Sudhir Sangwan allegedly threatened to ruin his sister's political and acting careers.?
Following her death, CCTV cameras, computers, and other technology reportedly vanished from her farmhouse in Haryana. The TikTok starlet Sonali Phogat ran for election in the 2019 Haryana elections as a BJP candidate.?
However, she was defeated by Kuldeep Bishnoi, a former Congress politician (he has since joined the BJP). 2020 witnessed her debut on Bigg Boss, a popular reality show.
Yashodhara, her 15-year-old daughter, has also pushed for justice for her mother. In 2016, Sonali Phogat's husband passed away.
