From Akshay-Priyanka's Split To Abhishek-Karishma's Fallout, Filmmaker Suneel Spills The Tea
Filmmaker Suneel Darshan best known for Andaaz and Barsaat recently opened up on the reason why even after being a superhit Jodi, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra stopped working together. Darshan who initially cast the duo together in his film Barsaat claims that Akshay dropped out because of Twinkle Khanna.
Suneel claimed that Twinkle¡¯s objections made the fallout occur even after Akshay shot a song with Priyanka for Barsaat and backed out later.
After Akshay stepped out, Bobby Deol was roped in for the romantic drama Barsaat (2005) which also starred Bipasha Basu alongside Priyanka. Akshay and Priyanka worked together in multiple successful films between 2003-05. Some of these included Andaaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, and Aitraaz.
Suneel talked about the duo and told Bollywood Hungama, ¡°Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra were a very good pair, very similar in terms of their personal traits. They had amazing chemistry. I thought the song looked beautiful; no vulgarity, no obscenity, very sensuous. Then Priyanka went for a world tour, and when she came back¡ I don¡¯t know what happened in between.¡±
The filmmaker who worked with Akshay in Jaanwar, Andaaz, Ek Rishtaa and Dosti: Friends Forever further revealed the actor's wife Twinkle Khanna allegedly had reservations.
¡°By then, I had also got to know of the other issues that had come up between him and his wife. She had issues with Priyanka, I was told¡ I feel the profession has its own hazards. Sometimes, the proximity, sometimes the individual¡¯s own lifestyles, all these things come in the way and the media blows it out of proportion, without realising how much loss a filmmaker could suffer because of it,¡± he added.
Suneel Darshan further talked about the rumoured relationship between his film Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya¡¯s actors Abhishek Bachchan and Karishma Kapoor.
¡°There were no rumours. It was confirmed. They were a couple and getting married. We have attended the engagement. I was a part of that. The Kapoor sisters were very close because of my respect for Babita ji. Where Abhishek was concerned, Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya was a special movie and it needed to be. It was the only movie where Abhishek and Karisma Kapoor were cast together. They never worked together before or after.¡±
The Inteqaam producer went on to add that even during the shoot of the film itself, Suneel felt Abhishek and Karishma were not ¡®destined¡¯ to be together.
He recalled, ¡°They were really not the ¡®made for each other¡¯ kind. There was constant bickering. Maybe that¡¯s how some people are. I always wondered if they are really the ¡®made for each other¡¯ kind of pair. Abhishek is a sweet fellow. Lolo (Karisma¡¯s nickname) is a very nice person too. But maybe some things are destined.¡±
