Gadar - Ek Prem Katha was an iconic yet heartbreaking movie. From the handpump scene to power-packed dialogues like "Agar aapka Pakistan zindabad hai toh isme humein koi aitraaz nahi lekin?hamara Hindustan zindabad tha, zindabad hai aur zindabad rahega", twenty-two years later, the movie remains etched in our hearts.?

Ahead of the release of its sequel, the makers have released the original film, Gadar Ek Prem Katha, in theatres once again, and fans are flocking to theatres to experience the magic.

The cast of the film including Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel are promoting the film. Sunny reached Delhi to watch the film with his fans and even mouthed his favourite dialogue from the film.

At the end of the film, there's a teaser of Gadar 2, which is giving everyone goosebumps again.?

The teaser starts with the dialogue, "Damaad hai yeh Pakistan ka, usse nariyal do, teeka lagao, warna iss baar vo dahej mein Lahore le jayega."

Do you know not Ameesha Patel but Kajol was the first choice for Sakina in Gadar?

When asked if Neelam and Kajol were approached for the film, director Anil Sharma said, "I had approached several big actresses of the time; Neelam was definitely not one of them. They all had some problem or the other. Some didn’t like the story; others didn’t like us. Some had their own personal agendas; some didn’t want to do period films."

There were also rumours that Govinda was the first choice for Tara Singh.?

About that, he said, "This is an outright lie. People talk. The truth of the matter is that I was working with Govinda on Maharaja. During Maharaja, I told him the story of Gadar. He perhaps misunderstood that I wanted to cast him in the film, and that’s how the rumours originated."

Gadar 2 is slated to be released on Aug 11.
