Ali is not only a singer. He was an actor too. The son of?Bollywood actor, Mehmood Ali and Mahelaka, the sister of legendry Indian actress Meena Kumari, and nephew of Bollywood actress and dancer Minoo Mumtaz, made his debut in 1962 film Chote Nawab, directed by his father, as a child artiste.
He has featured in movies like Yeh Hain Zindagi (1977), Hamare Tumhare (1979) and Trikaal (1985). Who doesn't remember him in Kaante, in which he starred alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Kumar Gaurav and Suniel Shetty.
