Baahubali actor Rana Daggubati appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the drug scandal.According to a report in TOI, ED has asked the actor to explain his banking transactions.?
To jog your memory, ED has been probing the money laundering angle into the 2017 drug scandal where the Tollywood celebrities' names came to the forefront after a confession made by drug traffickers.?
Rana is the fifth Tollywood personality to appear before ED. Director Puri Jagannadh and actors Charmee Kaur, Rakul Preet Singh, and Nandu were questioned on August 31.
The ED had last month issued notices to 10 persons connected to Tollywood and two others including a private club manager as part of a money-laundering probe linked to the case related to the smuggling of 'Class A' narcotic substances, including LSD and MDMA.
The ED had earlier summoned over 10 Tollywood (Telugu film industry) personalities in connection with the sensational racket of supplying high-end narcotics such as LSD and MDMA busted by the Telangana's Prohibition and Excise department.?
The ED had already grilled Telugu director Puri Jagannadh and actress Charmee Kaur in the case.The drug racket was exposed in July 2017, and several cases related to drug trafficking were registered.?
Over 20 people were arrested, including a US citizen, a former aerospace engineer and had worked with NASA, a Dutch national, a South African national, and seven B.Tech degree holders employed with multi-national companies here.
The key accused, Calvin Mascarenhas, was also grilled. ED has also summoned another Tollywood actor Ravi Teja.
