Before Salman Khan became the Bollywood superstar we know today, he was navigating the industry's early days, marked by his debut film, "Maine Pyar Kiya." Even in those formative years, Salman had gained a reputation for being somewhat "brattish." Says Who?
In a recent interview with Siddharth?Kannan, Vivek Vaswani, the man behind the 1991 film "Patthar Ke Phool," featuring Salman Khan and Raveena Tandon, shared intriguing details about how Salman came on board. Vivek expressed his initial desire to enlist Salim Khan for scriptwriting and hoped that securing the veteran writer's involvement would attract funding for the project.
While the initial plan did not include Salman in the cast, Salim Khan, impressed by Salman's potential, suggested him for the lead role as "Maine Pyar Kiya" neared its release.
Vivek, impressed by Salman's capabilities, facilitated a connection between Salman and GP Sippy's production house, given Salim Khan's history of writing iconic films like "Sholay" and "Seeta Aur Geeta" for them.
Addressing Salman's reputation for being "brattish," Vivek clarified that Salman exhibited respect towards his elders but was not always as amicable with peers or those younger than him. Vivek dispelled notions of negative encounters, stating that while Salman could display typical youthful assertiveness, it was not rooted in malice.
Meanwhile, in the same Siddarth Kanan interview, actor-writer Vivek Vaswani shared some important insights from the struggles of Shah Rukh Khan. Back when Shah Rukh Khan was still carving his path in the film industry, producer Vivek Vaswani took it upon himself to strategically launch the budding actor. As their friendship deepened, Vivek became one of the guests at SRK's wedding to Gauri Khan in 1991.
Vivek revealed that during Shah Rukh's wedding, the actor was residing in Vivek's parents' house. As a heartfelt wedding gift, Vivek presented the newlyweds with a five-day stay at a hotel in Mumbai.
Additionally, Vivek highlighted that Shah Rukh and Gauri's wedding encompassed Hindu, Muslim, and a registered ceremony, all taking place on the same day. It was a unique celebration that brought together various traditions in a joyous union.
