Ever since AR Rahman¡¯s Chennai concert turned out to be a nightmare for many, the ¡°Mozart of Madras¡± has been going through a lot. Soon after that horrific incident, Rahman suffered a legal flak from the Association of Surgeons of India for alleged fraud. Here¡¯s what the whole fiasco is all about!
In a complaint against Rahman claimed that the singer had received Rs 29 lakh from the association for performing at its 78th annual conference in 2018. Reportedly, he failed to show up and did not even return the money. This came when AR Rahman was already dealing with the backlash around the mishap of his Chennai concert.
Rahman has slapped a defamation case against ASI worth Rs 10 crore for trying to defame him. They have denied all allegations and asked ASI to withdraw its complaint within 3 days. His legal notice further mentioned that he was not aware of the third parties involved during the signing of the concert.
Rahman in a four-page reply mentioned that he never entered into any contractual obligation. As reported by TOI, the singer said, ¡°The amount claimed was never paid to me but to a third party Senthilvelan and a group of companies of Senthilvelan. Knowing fully that the association has no money transaction with me, they have chosen to drag me into the controversy.¡±
AR Rahman recently issued an apology for his Chennai concert mishap.
For those who don¡¯t know, last month AR Rahman performed in Chennai but the organiser's mismanagement turned everything worse. The tickets were oversold, people were denied entry, children were crushed, women were molested and unfortunately, the whole society suffered at large.
Seeking an apology for the same, AR Rahman told The Hindu, ¡°It was a tsunami of people and love that we were unable to handle. As a composer, my job was to give a terrific show, and I thought everything else would be taken care of. I was just thinking that it shouldn¡¯t rain, and was happily performing inside, without any idea of what was happening outside. Our intentions were good, but I think the response was beyond our expectations.¡±
