Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's long-standing legal dispute over their French winery, Chateau Miraval, has taken a new turn, with the actress scoring a major win. On Monday, November 25, a Los Angeles judge ruled in Jolie's favour, urging Pitt to produce documents and communications that the actress claims will prove her domestic violence allegations before the court.
Labelled the 'War of Roses', the Jolie and Pitt feud over their French winery has seen the former pair engaged in an ugly legal battle despite eight long years to their highly-publicised divorce.
Just last week, Pitt got an edge over his ex-wife after a Los Angeles superior court ruled out in his favour. However, the tables have now seemingly turned as Judge Lia Martin has now asked him to disclose documents that are believed to have covered up alleged domestic violence allegations.
Expressing satisfaction over the recent ruling, Paul Murphy, the advocate for Jolie, told Us Weekly that Brad has concealed the ¡°crucial evidence¡± for years, which can unveil ¡°concerning abuse, lies to authorities and years of cover-up¡±.
The documents sought by Judge Martin reportedly back Jolie's claims that the F1 actor forced her to sign a nondisclosure agreement that prevents her from speaking out against his alleged domestic violence so that he can get complete authority over Chateau Miraval.
Despite the Maria actress closing a legal chapter with the Department of Justice and the FBI over the release of documents related to the infamous 2016 plane incident, her lawyer believes the domestic violence allegations play a pivotal role in the French winery case. Murphy emphasised that Pitt's actions ¡°harmed Angelina and their children¡±.
An insider close to the Top Gun: Maverick star has downplayed the significance of the recent court ruling, calling it 'mostly irrelevant'. The source further claimed that Brad has already gone all out with providing the court with all the documents related to the case.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, basking in the glory of love, bought the vineyard in 2008 as a family business, but tension over the French winery began surfacing after their divorce battle in 2016.
Their dispute escalated when Pitt accused Jolie of illegally selling her shares of Chateau Miraval behind his back. Since 2022, the two have been locked up in a bitter legal feud over ownership of the winery. The case is not reported to be heading to a trial.
