Sean Combs, also known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy, is facing a tough time as he remains incarcerated following his arrest on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. As new details in the case continue to unfold, his legal team are desperate to get him out as they file a new plea for pre-trial release.
According to a People report, P Diddy's lawyer Alexander A.E. Shapiro made the filing on Tuesday in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Diddy has been denied conditional bail twice despite him offering $50 million instead of the average $2 million.?The hip-hop mogul has pleaded not guilty to the charges and awaits a trial in early October. Earlier, Diddy was reportedly put under suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in?Brooklyn.
The filing, obtained by the publication, read, "was not released pending trial, even though he offered to comply with restrictive conditions that would have prevented any conceivable risk of flight or danger." In the filing, Shapiro said that he "rejected a sufficient bail package" for Combs and "violated its obligations under the Bail Reform Act."
The third attempt from Diddy's team legal team to get him out of jail challenged the previous judgments made by the Southern District of New York. The rapper's lawyer cited lack of evidence and alleged legal errors in the court¡¯s judgement as the reason. The court has denied him bail citing concerns about obstruction of justice and witness tampering. They also added that the rapper also carried a flight risk given his wealth status and private planes.
Despite his previous two failed appeals, Diddy is hopeful for a bail. The music mogul was willing to give his Miami mansion and his mom¡¯s home as a collateral addition to the $50 million bond for jail. To ensure that he was not making any illegal moves, he also offered to put a GPS monitor at all times and restrict his movements to?New York?and Miami.
