Similar to many other celebrities globally, Taylor Swift, the pop star, is entangled in a concerning wave of AI-generated videos and images.
Recently, many digitally altered images featuring the pop star have emerged, circulating widely on various social media platforms and online spaces. Despite the removal of some due to rule violations, a significant number still persist online.
The artist has not yet addressed the situation, but the fabricated images have raised concerns at the White House, underscoring worries about the proliferation of misinformation and potential harm.
The White House expressed concern on Friday over fake online images of pop singer Taylor Swift, emphasising the crucial role of social media companies in enforcing their rules to curb the spread of such misinformation.
?"The circulation of false images of Taylor Swift are alarming. We know that incidences like this disproportionately impact women and girls," said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre at a news briefing.
Jean-Pierre added, "@POTUS is committed to ensuring we reduce the risk of fake AI images through executive action. The work to find real solutions will continue."
Fake images of Swift circulated widely on social media over the last week. One of the images shared on Twitter was reportedly viewed over 40 million times.
