While the tensions between India and Pakistan were rising after the abrogation of Article 370 of Indian constitution that gave Jammu and Kashmir a special status, Mika Singh was performing at Pervez Musharraf's relative's wedding in Pakistan.
Of course, he came under fire from both the countries. India and Pakistan have a blanket ban on artistes of each other's countries. As a result, Mika Singh was banned in India by All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA), Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE).
Mika Singh held a press conference to talk about the ongoing controversy and said that the whole thing wasn't intentional. ¡°It wasn't that I was adamant on performing there, it was a coincidence that I went there and #Article370 happened. If I made a mistake, I apologise to the federation and the nation,¡± he said.
But he seemingly, also engaged in an argument with journalists there. Trying to defend himself, he said, ¡°I went there only when the government issued the visa. Nobody raises a voice when other artists perform. An attempt is being made to garner publicity in my name,¡± he said.
Mika also complained that "Indian singers do not get work while Pakistani singers don't miss the opportunity."
Besides, the singer also said that fake organisation has troubled him a lot in this matter and he asked the media to support the right people.
