However, the actress recently found herself embroiled in a back-to-back series of accusations made by her stepdaughter Esha Verma on social media and in interviews. For the unversed, Rupali’s husband Ashwin K Verma has been previously married twice and Esha is his daughter from the second marriage.

Right when Esha started going aggressive with her accusations, the actress slapped a Rs 50-crore defamation notice against her stepdaughter. Ganguly’s lawyer revealed to HT City on November 11, “We have issued a defamation notice to her stepdaughter in response to her false and damaging statements as Rupali firmly stands against the use of defamatory tactics for Publicity and she has taken this legal step to protect her reputation from unfounded claims.”

1. Rupali Ganguly hit Ashwin’s ex-wife Sapna, the man was abusive too

In a November 5 interview with Bollywood Bubble, Esha Verma claimed that after Rupali entered their life, she was devastated and would often cry in school. She called Ganguly a woman “who broke my parent’s marriage, who physically hit my mother in person in Mumbai in my grandparent’s house.”

Verma added that it was not just Rupali but also her father Ashwin K Verma. She added, “I have also gathered the strength to say that it is my father’s fault. He was also a very abusive man physically and emotionally so it’s a two-party street.”

2. Rupali Ganguly forced Ashwin’s ex-wife Sapna to sign divorce papers

Esha called Ashwin’s X clarification as the biggest lie which mentioned that Rupali wasn’t involved in this matter. “Rupali was the one who came to my house in New Jersey and slept on my mother’s bed—the bed that my father and mother shared. She has done so much, physically, mentally, verbally, and emotionally, abusing me and my mom.” Verma added in the same Bollywood Bubble interview.

Esha then blamed both Rupali and Ashwin for the fiasco and added, "First things first, it’s both parties’ fault for an affair...she comes into our lives. She has made my father, like she told my father to give the divorce papers and this happened twice to my mother. And my father would run off to India to be with her.”

3. Rupali Ganguly was obsessed with Ashwin Verma, it wasn’t ‘love’

In another November 7 interview with Screen, Esha claimed that despite Rupali being 20 years younger than Ashwin, she was adult enough to know that if a man was married and had kids, she was supposed to stay away from him. “It was an obsession, not love. She would constantly call him, send messages, and spam his phone.” Esha claimed that Rupali would come outside their house and scream when Ashwin missed her calls.

4. Rupali Ganguly bullied her stepdaughter and sent death threats

In another shocking revelation, Esha Verma who is now settled in New Jersey claimed that had she been in India, she would have been extremely unsafe. “Rupali would spur death threats and you don't know how real that could have gotten putting my life in danger,” she shared with TOI TV on November 8.

Verma further claimed that Rupali would often face bully from the actress because of her weight and appearance. “She constantly bullied me, she kept commenting on my eyes, and how my nose looked big. She even called me the ugly duckling, I was only 12 years old at that time. And I had to heal from that insecurity till today. She scarred me with that trauma,” Verma shared.

5. ‘Psychotic’ Rupali Ganguly fed ‘strange medications’ to Ashwin Verma

This claim was part of Esha’s very first allegation post that she made on Facebook in 2020.?Esha called Rupali a ‘cruel-hearted woman and said that while everyone thinks that it's a happy marriage, in reality “she’s controlling and psychotic towards him. She feeds my dad’s strange medications and is very controlling of his life.”
