Ever since the teaser of Jawan was released, fans were reminded of the twenty-year-old tiff between Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol. Do you know the Gadar 2 actor had vowed to never work with SRK??
In the film, Deol essayed the role of Sunil Malhotra, the protagonist, while Khan essayed the role of Rahul Mehra, the antagonist. After the release of the film, SRK who was a newcomer back then shot to fame overnight and overshadowed Deol who was the hero of the film.?
This didn't go down well with him. He was unhappy with filmmaker Yash Chopra for giving more prominence to Khan's character.?
"My only issue with the film was that I did not know they would glorify the villain. I always work in films with an open heart and believe the person."
"I believe working with trust. Unfortunately, we have many actors and stars who donĄŻt function in this manner. Maybe thatĄŻs the way they want to get their stardom. IĄŻll never work with?Yash Chopra?again. He isnĄŻt a man of his words. I donĄŻt have good memories of him, he betrayed my faith in him."
It is said that Sunny was offered to choose between the two roles. He picked up the role of the hero himself. In fact, before SRK, the negative character was offered to many stars including Aamir Khan (who was unhappy with the climax), Sanjay Dutt (who couldn't do it because of jail term), Ajay Devgn (who was busy with other projects) and Sudesh Berry (who was rejected after screen test).? ??
Talking about the climax scene when Shah Rukh Khan stabs him, he said, "I put my hands inside my pocket as I was very angry. Soon, out of anger, I didn't even realise that I had ripped my pants with my hands."
"ItĄŻs not that I didnĄŻt talk but I just cut myself off and I anyway donĄŻt socialize much. So we never met,?toh baat karne ki baat he nahi hai."
At the time when SRK was very vocal about dancing at weddings, Sunny Deol told a magazine, "Only mujrawallis dance at weddings, not actors. I think actors should maintain their dignity. Dancing at a friendĄŻs wedding is okay, but getting paid to dance is cheap."
He added, "Next, you will ask me-isnĄŻt prostitution better than borrowing money from the market? I donĄŻt agree with this kind of logic."
In the teaser of the much-hyped movie, SRK says, "Jab mai villain Banta hu toh mere saamne hero bhi nahi tikta".?
While it's just a dialogue that has a different context, fans think this was a jibe at Sunny Deol.?
