Why did Wendy and Marty make such a difficult decision? What exactly did the car accident mean? What happened during Wendy's stay in the mental health hospital?
"Ozark," a Netflix series, follows Marty Byrde and his wife, Wendy, as they relocate from Chicago to the Ozarks to repay a debt owed to some dangerous people. In the process, they are forced to launder money for a Mexican drug cartel.
(Disclaimer: Spoiler Alert! This is the point where you must retreat if you are yet to watch the show.)
Season 4 of Ozark stars Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde, Laura Linney as Wendy Byrde, and Julia Garner as Ruth Langmore. The season picks up right where Season 4 Part 1 left off. We last saw Ruth rushing to avenge the death of her cousin Wyatt.?
Ozark has become a fan favorite due to its captivating plot twists and intricately woven storylines. The show has received rave reviews from both critics and viewers.
Let¡¯s take a gander at how the finale of this fantastic show unfolds.?
Everyone enjoys a good cliffhanger, and at the start of Season 4, viewers witnessed a terrible car accident involving the entire Byrde family, which was left unresolved in Part One of the Season. However, in part two, we received wonderful details and answers about the wreck as revealed, that the accident occurred when the Byrde family was returning home after picking up Wendy from the hospital. The wreck has been used as an interesting metaphor by the creators, showing that all of the family members escaped unharmed, which is one of the reminders that they have previously survived many deadly obstacles like this one. And they've always been known to pull through.
We'd been waiting to see what happened with Wendy's mention of an FBI meeting before the accident; in part two, we learn that it was the most important FBI meeting of Marty and Wendy's lives because it would be a free ticket to their new life in Chicago. Byrde decided to sacrifice Omar Navarro to replace him with his sister Camilla Navarro. They eventually negotiated a new deal to free themselves from the cartel, but it wasn't easy. Under a verbal agreement with the FBI, Camila Navarro, Oscar Navarro's sister, agreed to run the cartel. Ruth finally agreed to let them launder money at the casino, and they struck a deal with the FBI to get the best protection.?
Wendy makes a risky move in the final hour by checking herself into a mental health facility to redeem her children. Charlotte and Jonah had planned to give their grandfather, Nathan, custody, giving him a temporary victory over Wendy. Wendy employs an emotional ploy to win the kids back. When Jonah and Charlotte visit her, she makes amends by admitting that her brother died. "It's my fault. All of it," she says. "Everything." Finally, she has accepted responsibility for her actions and apologized to her children. Which is exactly what Jonah desired to hear. In the end, Nathan and the rest of the congregation leave the Ozark, while Jonah and Charlotte remain with their parents.
Sam Dermody may be gullible, but we can all agree that he deserves a happy ending. Throughout the series, the main characters move him around wherever they need him, which leads to him working for Ruth at the Lazy-O Motel, which she uses to launder money for Darlene. Sam eventually escapes the Ozark madness by turning to a higher power. He is baptized and leaves town with Nathan and the congregation, so he no longer assists the main characters.
Marty meets with Camila, Omar¡¯s sister, and the Byrde family¡¯s ally as they attempt to kill Omar and fulfill their deal with the FBI. When Omar is finally released from jail, he is driven to the middle of nowhere and killed by an officer. Marty foreshadowed Omar's death when he told Camila that if Omar was killed while transferring, it would be considered fate. Camila has taken over the cartel now that Omar is officially out. Omar was scheduled to be released from prison, transferred to Mexico, and then reclaim control of the cartel. Camila, on the other hand, gets the final deal with the FBI, making Omar the pawn.
All the major characters were killed off during the Ozark seasons but Ruth might have been the one that was missed the most. Especially when Camila found out that she killed her brother Javi. Camila while investigating his son's death, discovers the truth.?
The Byrdes panic, but Camila warns that if they do anything to warn their friend, she¡¯ll kill them and their kids. Marty and Wendy try to arrange a plan, but there¡¯s nothing, absolutely nothing, they can do.?Ruth admitted to Camila that she shot her son Javier "Javi" Elizonndro, and Camila shot her in the chest.
Mel returned after finally figuring out what happened to Ben. Mel, being the good detective that he is, finally worked out that the Byrdes stashed Ben¡¯s ashes in the goat cookie jar he¡¯d seen a handful of times. He realized that with this evidence, he could reliably prove the Byrdes had something to do with Ben's death, meaning they¡¯d finally face legal repercussions. Mel was back and he figured out why Ben¡¯s soul is trapped in the goatherd cookie jar. He realized the facts indicated they had something to do with Ben's death - this would finally result in legal repercussions against them.
In the final scene, Mel is threatening Marty and Wendy. Jonah appeared with a rifle and had it aimed at Mel. The teen closed his eyes, and the screen went black as a gunshot rang out.
The show ended with a gunshot, indicating that the children had accepted their violent ways and decided to follow in their parents' footsteps. This teaches the audience that these violent ways will never be avoided, no matter what. Jonah was the perfect individual to pull the trigger in this last episode; he'd spent most of season 4 angry with his parents, and I doubt he'd be drawn back in quickly enough to kill a blameless man.?
Ozark is a blood bond as well as financial stability. Marty and Wendy had no obvious escape route the entire time, and the most heartbreaking confirmation is that neither did their children. Ozark's solution may not be ideal, but it does benefit from an important fact.?
