Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files is taking the nation by storm as the film touches upon the sensitive issue of the 1990s exodus of Kashmiri Pandits. The film, which found itself embroiled in several controversies even before its release, is on its way to becoming a blockbuster as people are?flocking to theatres to witness the story unfold.?
The city of Kota in Rajasthan has now imposed section 144 to 'maintain law and order in the city during The Kashmir Files screening'.?
¡°Section 144 will be imposed in Kota from tomorrow, March 22, till April 21, in view of maintaining law & order with the screening of ¡®The Kashmir Files¡¯,¡± said Kota District Collector & District Magistrate.
The order prohibits gathering of crowds to watch the film and states that the 'upcoming festival in the district should be conducted in a ceremonial manner and people should not take baths in rivers including canals'.
However, the move did not go down well with ex BJP MLA Prahlad Gunjal.?
He said, "A huge ¡®Chandi march¡¯ will be taken out in the Kota North assembly constituency on Tuesday, therefore Section 144 was imposed and ¡®The Kashmir Files¡¯ is just an excuse.
"Earlier also a similar clause has been invoked a day before the protest. Women and girls are being raped and a minister terms Rajasthan as ¡®the state of men¡¯. This has hurt the self-esteem of women, they will proceed with the rally tomorrow."
The Kashmir Files released in theatres on March 11 and stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumaar, Vrinda Kher, Puneet Isaar among others.?The film has been declared tax-free in Madya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tripura, Goa, Uttarakhand among other state
